Jump Start

Event date: June 17–22, 2018

Jump-start your college education by taking a class for college credit at Faith this summer.

  • For high school students graduating in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Classes

  • Acts
    Analysis of the book of Acts with a focus on the early church and missions.
    Instructor: Mr. Mark Lounsbrough, professor of Bible and missions
  • Introduction to Philosophy
    Introduction to developing a Biblical worldview
    Instructor: Dr. Paul Hartog, professor of Bible and theology
  • Creation Apologetics
    Study of Apologetics with a special emphasis on creationism
    Instructor: Mr. Andy Stearns, Assistant Professor of Bible

Successfully complete any of these three courses, and earn two credits toward your college education!

Dress

  • Classroom—Business casual (khaki/dress pants and polo/nice top)
  • After Class—Casual (jeans, t-shirt, shorts, capris, etc.)

1:00 p.m.—3:30 p.m. Class

5:30 p.m.—6:30 p.m. Dinner
6:30 p.m.—8:30 p.m. Special Activities

  • Arrival: Check in Sunday night from 7-8 p.m. in the Nettleton Center
  • Departure: Friday after lunch

Cost

$399 which includes

  • Tuition for two hours of college credit (60% discount off what a college student normally pays)
  • All meals
  • Dormitory lodging (supervised by adults)
  • Plus about $25—$105 for books
  • You can send in the payment by check or pay over the phone.

Get $50 off Jump Start when you register for Summer Sports Camp! Students who attend Jump Start and Music Camp will attend camp for just $49. The cost to stay in the dorms between each event is $25. Meals will be provided.

Registration Process

  • Complete the Summer Jump Start Application here.
  • Send in two completed reference forms (cannot be completed by relatives): Pastor/Christian Worker Form and High School Educator (If you are home schooled, have a supervising teacher complete the reference form.)
  • If you have already taken a Jump Start class or you are currently enrolled for the fall 2018 semester, you do not need to fill out a registration form. Simply call to sign up!
  • Register by May 26, 2018, and pay your bill before the start of class.

Seminary Module Available

  • Course: The Passion Week of Jesus
  • Description: An examination of the Gospel writers’ accounts of Jesus’ passion week. Special attention is given to chronology and harmonization, as well as the theological perspectives of the Gospel writers.
  • Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to do the following: 1) Demonstrate a working knowledge of the events of the Passion Week and their theological significance. 2) Grasp the basic teachings that Jesus taught during the Passion Week. 3) Exercise exegetical skill in interpreting and harmonizing discrepancies in the passion narratives. 4) Apply the message of Jesus’ Passion to modern situations in the Christian life and the church.
