seminary spotlight
Name: Mark Fuller
Married: Yes, July 24, 2009
Hometown: Grant, MI
Major: M.Div.
Likes: Sports, especially Michigan, reading, traveling, and the outdoors
Favorite Books: the Bible (obviously), War of Words, and Instruments in the Redeemer's Hands
Why FBTS?
I chose Faith Seminary for several reasons. As a student in Faith Baptist Bible College, I heard a lot about the seminary. I knew I was planning on attending seminary, so I decided to look more closely at FBTS. What I discovered was a world-class faculty who really care about their students. They are willing to take time to help you or just to get to know you better. They also have a lot of personal experience in the ministry, so they know what is important.
Name: Myron J. Houghton
Hometown: Schenectady, New York
How long have you been teaching? Since 1971
What is your favorite class to teach? Law and Grace
Who was your favorite professor in school? Dr. Ernest Pickering was my theology professor for many of my seminary classes.
What do you enjoy most about teaching? Presenting the materials and interacting with students
How many books do you have? At least 10,000 books in my office on campus and in my study at home
How many books do you read (average) every month? I have no idea (that means a lot).
Why do you think a seminary education is so vital? For the Bible college graduate, seminary fine-tunes and adds details to familiar Biblical and theological studies; for university graduates with no formal education in Biblical and theological studies, a seminary education provides this information while supplying the tools for further research.
Why do you feel so comfortable talking about various theological systems? I have done more than read textbooks from various denominational points of view: I have actually sat in their classrooms of schools with Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, Wesleyan, Pentecostal, and Reformed views.
