Meet Tashika Witter
Hometown: St. Elizabeth, Jamaica
Major: Biblical Studies/Counseling
Year: Graduated 2011; Now in Seminary
How did you hear about Faith?
God's purpose and plan in the life of a believer is always far bigger than what he can ever envision for himself (Jer. 29:11; Isa. 55:8-9). When I started at a Bible college in Jamaica I knew nothing of Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary, nor did I know that it would be where God would take me. God sovereignly worked through two former students of Faith who introduced me to the college.
How was your experience with the Admissions Department?
God greatly used the Admissions team of Faith to accomplish His purpose. The staff lovingly encouraged and aided me as I sought to organize the necessary documentation for the completion of the admissions process.
What are your favorite parts about being at Faith so far?
Being at Faith has brought with it the opportunity of meeting and developing wonderful friendships that I am sure will not only last for this life time but also for eternity. Daily I sit under the teaching of highly trained godly professors who are interested not only in my academic progress but also in my spiritual progress as well. As I interact with faculty and staff members of Faith I have come to realize that this Christ-like attitude is a central motor of the college.
How was the transition as an international student?
Several challenges have emerged as a result of cultural differences, some of which are changes in the weather, difference in food, and being away from family and friends. Despite these differences, though, God has repeatedly shown His grace by providing different persons to help in one way or the other to alleviate the effects of them.
What are your future plans?
With the training I am receiving at Faith, both formal and informal, I am convinced that I am being equipped to embark on the next phase of my life as God leads. I cannot say at this point exactly where that will be, but I am convinced that God does (Prov. 3:5, 6); thus I rest secure on His promise to give me an expected end.
Step-by-Step Application Process for International Students
Applications for admission are submitted to the Faith Baptist Bible College Office of Admission. For purposes of admission, an international student is defined as a student who is, or will be, in the United States on a nonimmigrant visa.
Complete the online application (free) or mail your application for admission with a $25 U.S. fee.
2. Pastor/Christian Worker's Reference
Ask a nonrelative pastor, deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth sponsor, or other Christian worker to submit the reference form online or mail in the paper reference form.
3. Submit Educator's Reference
Ask a nonrelative teacher or educator to submit the form online or mail in the paper reference form. For individuals who have been out of school for an extended period of time, a noneducator who can evaluate your educational ability may be used.
4. College Transcripts
If you had previous college work, ask the college to send to us a copy of your official transcripts. Click here to download a Transcript Request form. Faxed transcripts, scanned documents, and transcripts photocopied without a fresh seal are not considered official records.
All translated records should be literal, not interpretative, and accompanied by the original language record. All records should be freshly certified by the school, not by notaries or translators.
5. TOEFL Test
If English is not your primary language, you are required to complete a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and have your scores sent to Faith. You can access information about this test at toefl.org. A minimum score of 530 is required on the written exam and 197 on the computer exam.
6. Financial Paperwork
Submit documented evidence of financial support for educational expenses. You and a sponsor must sign the financial certificate. In addition, the certificate must be countersigned and sealed by the sponsor's bank, or a separate letter or statement may be issued to support the information provided on the certificate. Click here to download the financial certificate.
Send all documents to the Admissions Department by April 1.
