Dr. Ken Rathbun Appointed Academic Dean

RathbunFamilyFaith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ken Rathbun as the new vice president for academic services and academic dean of the college. Dr. Rathbun has most recently served as a Baptist Mid-Missions missionary at Fairview Baptist Bible College in Westmoreland, Jamaica, where he has been a professor and the academic dean. He has also had a part in planting Bay Life Baptist Church in Montego Bay.

Dr. Rathbun earned the Bachelor of Arts degree from Faith Baptist Bible College and the Master of Arts and Master of Divinity degrees from Faith Baptist Theological Seminary. After completing his degrees at Faith, he received a Master of Arts degree in the Graduate School of Religion at the University of Iowa. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of the West Indies. Dr. Rathbun is also a member of the Evangelical Theological Society and the American Society of Church History.

In addition to his current ministry in Jamaica, Dr. Rathbun has ministered in Australia, Brazil, India, England, Guyana, Liberia, New Zealand, Peru, Scotland, Thailand, and several restricted access locations. While in Brazil, he met his wife, Cléa, and they were married in 2009. Cléa is also a graduate of Faith Baptist Theological Seminary. The Rathbuns have a two-year old son, Lucas.

Dr. Rathbun looks forward to the new challenges and opportunities at Faith.

“I am thrilled with the opportunity to serve at Faith. I believe in its purpose, and I am proud of its heritage. I intend to uphold its strong doctrinal convictions, its excellence in academics, and its reputation for producing missionaries and pastors who are expository in their preaching and who make a significant influence in local churches around the world. I want to continue using educational technologies to advance and enhance our current programs, as well as seek new areas of learning that will better enable our graduates to minister for the Lord in the midst of a changing world in desperate need of the Savior.”

Dr. Rathbun’s education and background at Faith, his academic credentials in higher education, and his broad teaching experience ideally suit him for his new role as vice president for academic services and college dean at Faith.

Dr. Rathbun and his family plan to relocate to the Ankeny area this summer in preparation for his new responsibilities at Faith.
