BJU Conference
In the fall of 2012 Bob Jones University Seminary sponsored a conference dealing with the issue of sexual abuse in the church. You will find helpful information on their site. They may post videos of the sessions soon.

The incidence of sexual misconduct by pastors, staff members, and ministry leaders is a grievous problem today. When such incidents occur, we often struggle to know how to respond and how to help the people and the ministries involved.

More than a year ago Dr. Wallace Alcorn of Austin, Minnesota, prepared a white paper on this subject and shared it with Dr. James Maxwell III and a few other individuals. The white paper concluded with a proposal that pastors and church leaders meet to discuss this important matter. That meeting took place on Thursday, May 24, on the campus of Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary in Ankeny, Iowa.

Those who attended the meeting were Dr. Wallace Alcorn, Dr. James D. Maxwell III, Dr. John Greening, Dr. Tony Beckett, Mr. Steve Brennecke, Mr. David Gower Jr., Dr. Robert Domokos,  Rev. Darrell Friar, Rev. Joe Hayes, Rev. David Johnson, Mr. Mark Lounsbrough, Mr. Del Mohler, Rev. Kevin Mungons, Dr. Jeff Newman, Mrs. Sue Nicewander, Dr. Ernie Schmidt, Mr. Bob Schultz, Pastor David Strope, and Mr. Don Anderson

Dr. Wallace Alcorn moderated the meeting, which included presentations by six individuals. The discussions following the presentations were forthright and helpful.

At the close of the meeting Dr. James Maxwell III, president of FBBC&TS and host of the meeting, formed four study groups who will contine the work of the day and lead in the preparation of a statement for churches and organizations.
