Luke and Bethany Snell, graduates of Faith Baptist Bible College, have chosen to further their training through Faith Baptist Theological Seminary. Bethany graduated from the seminary with an M.A. degree in 2009. Luke is a current student in the M.Div. program. When Luke graduates, they plan to pursue full-time ministry, possibly in missions. In the summer of 2013, they traveled with the Faith Chorale on a missions trip to Europe. They are praying that God will confirm their future ministry goals through this trip.
So why seminary? Here are their thoughts:
The simple answer: To better prepare us for ministry. Both of us are currently involved in teaching and discipleship ministries at our church, which require a thorough knowledge in the Word of God. Our time in seminary is sharpening the skills and knowledge we gained in college. It has changed our perspective on ministry and deepened our convictions. We feel that our seminary training has not only been influential, but also essential, to our current and future ministries.
The less academic answer: Seminary is fun! It is a joy to grow in our understanding of God and His Word! Even though seminary is hard work and sometimes tedious, the fruit of the labor is worth the effort. We love to study God’s Word and are so thankful for the impact that Faith Baptist Theological Seminary is having in our lives and ministries!
